The Uttar Pradesh government is accelerating infrastructure projects to enhance connectivity to the upcoming Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport. With an anticipated passenger footfall of 5 million annually in its initial phase, seamless access is crucial for sustainable and inclusive growth. Key developments include new expressways, elevated roads, and transit systems designed to integrate the airport with major urban centers.

Major Infrastructure Projects

1. Bhangel Elevated Road

The 5.5 km six-lane Bhangel Elevated Road connects Agahpur to the NSEZ via DSC Road. Initially budgeted at ₹468 crore, the project’s cost has escalated to ₹608 crore due to design modifications and funding issues. Despite delays, completion is projected by July 2025. Once operational, it will decongest densely populated areas and streamline traffic between Noida and Greater Noida, serving as a critical feeder to the airport.

2. DND–Faridabad–Ballabhgarh Bypass Link Road

This strategic corridor connects the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to Jewar Airport. The state government has allocated an additional ₹48.6 crore, supplementing the ₹260 crore already disbursed for land compensation. Land acquisition across nearly 67 hectares has been completed, laying the groundwork for smoother regional access.

3. Faridabad–Jewar Greenfield Expressway

Under the Bharatmala Pariyojana initiative, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is constructing an 8.5 km elevated segment along the Greenfield Expressway linking Faridabad and Jewar. The full 22 km expressway aims to strengthen economic ties and regional trade corridors between Uttar Pradesh and Haryana while offering efficient airport access.

4. Jewar Airport to Ganga Expressway Link

To bolster multi-directional access, the Uttar Pradesh government has earmarked ₹1,000 crore for a 76 km expressway linking Jewar Airport directly to the Ganga Expressway. Originating from Bulandshahr, this link will integrate with the Yamuna Expressway, easing travel for residents of Meerut, Bulandshahr, and users of the Purvanchal and Bundelkhand corridors.

Sustainable and Inclusive Development

Urban planners emphasize that these infrastructure investments must prioritize long-term sustainability. With rising concerns over carbon emissions, transport infrastructure tied to major airports must factor in low-emission mobility, multimodal transport integration, and ecological safeguards. Efforts are underway to ensure that rapid urban expansion and mega infrastructure projects do not exclude vulnerable communities, aiming to craft a mobility ecosystem that is accessible, inclusive, and environmentally responsible.

Conclusion

As the Noida International Airport project progresses, the Uttar Pradesh government’s aggressive push to boost connectivity through expressways, elevated corridors, and strategic link roads is positioning Jewar as a critical aviation and logistics hub in Northern India. These infrastructure developments are not only set to handle the projected 5 million annual passengers but are also designed to promote long-term sustainability, multimodal integration, and inclusive growth.

A noteworthy ripple effect of these developments is the significant spike in land prices across the Jewar–Noida corridor. According to recent real estate market trends, land values near the airport have surged by 50–100% over the last 2 years, with certain plots near the Yamuna Expressway and airport periphery seeing even higher appreciation. This sharp rise is driven by increased investor interest, the announcement of major infrastructure projects, and growing demand for residential, commercial, and warehousing spaces.

Experts suggest that as expressways like the Jewar–Ganga Expressway link, the Faridabad–Jewar Greenfield corridor, and the DND–Ballabhgarh bypass become operational, the Jewar zone will emerge not just as an aviation hub but also as one of the most promising real estate investment destinations in North India.

In summary, what was once a relatively underdeveloped pocket of western Uttar Pradesh is now transforming into a future-ready aerotropolis—fuelled by smart planning, robust infrastructure, and strong investor confidence.
